LEIGH RMI side are fine-tuning the art of late winners.
And on Saturday Steve Waywell's boys did it again when Steve Jones struck an 87th minute winner at Hednesford Town.
The 2-1 triumph maintained their unbeaten start to the New Year.
Jones steered his right-foot shot home after Ged Kielty had driven a low cross fiercely across the face of the goal, completing a remarkable revival after a sloppy start had seen them fall behind on 31 minutes.
Paul Bagshaw floated in a corner for Mick Norbury, but Dave Felgate -- on his 250th appearance -- foiled his powerful effort; Neil Davis was on hand, however, to slam home the loose ball.
RMI hit back on 69 minutes, Tony Black and Ian Monk seeing efforts blocked before Kielty volleyed in, his third goal in three league games. The stage was set for Hot Shot Jones! As Leigh closed in on victory, players were almost queueing up to chance their arm on hitting the target. Dave German was the first to cause the car park attendant apprehension with a drive that cleared the stand by some distance, while the other full-back, Nicky Spooner took confidence from his goal in the FA Trophy, but his shot was tamed by Ridings' inadvertant deflection and trickled to safety.
In fact, the great escape was finalised three minutes from time by Jones' strike, but Hednesford could have even rescued a point in stoppage time, with Owen striking an upright with all 22 players packed into Felgate's goalmouth.
