A BURGLAR who targeted a pensioner's home while she was out was today starting an 18-month jail term.
A judge at Burnley Crown Court told Daniel Lawrence, 40, he had been much younger when he had committed other offences -- and he was now older and should know better.
Judge Andrew Blake said the victim, who was in her late 80s, would always remember what had happened for the rest of her life -- and added that should be on the defendant's conscience.
He said Lawrence had been convicted of house burglaries in the past and should know how serious his actions were.
The judge went on: "I can't possibly pass any other sentence.
"You pleaded guilty at the first opportunity and admitted it when interviewed some time ago."
Lawrence, now living in Northampton, admitted burglary at the woman's house in Bacup
