A FORMER Army lieutenant colonel will have pupils standing to attention after being appointed bursar at Westholme School in Blackburn.
John Henwood, previously bursar at Farnborough Hill independent girls' school in Hampshire, replaces Tim Marshall who has retired.
Following officer training at Sandhurst, Mr Henwood served in this country, Europe and the Falklands and at the same time trained as a chartered management accountant.
Mr Henwood has a degree in hotel and catering management from Surrey University and a masters degree in accounting and finance from Leeds Metropolitan University.
Mr Henwood, who will be moving to Blackburn with his wife, Chrissie, and daughter, Louise, is no stranger to the area as his brother lives near Longridge.
He said of his new post: " The school has many plans for the future and I am excited at the prospect of seeing them through."
