AN unusual play spanning two centuries is being rehearsed by Pendle Borderline theatre group.
Set in a Georgian family house, "An Experiment with an Air Pump" jumps back and forth between 1799 and 1999, portraying the lives of residents in each century.
Seven actors take on 11 parts, and the parents are played by Bill Hindle and Les Harper in both centuries.
As 20th century Tom and Susanna, they find evidence of their predecessors Fenwick and Ellen in the basement.
Produced by Maureen Roberts, the play was premiered at the Royal Exchange Theatre, Manchester, and takes its name from a painting of an early scientific experiment.
The play runs from Wednesday, February 14, to Saturday, February 17, at the Civic Theatre, Nelson, at 7.30pm. For tickets at £3.50 or £3 call 01282 661234.
