I HOPE the next honours list will contain the names of the brave firemen from Lancashire who have been risking life and limb to rescue those poor people who were buried under the earthquake rubble in Bhuj, Gujarat. No one could deserve it more.
To crawl into the confined spaces knowing full well that they themselves may become trapped, injured or killed, takes a special kind of courage.
I, for one, am proud that these men come from Lancashire.
To be buried under a building without anyone knowing you are alive must be the worst possible nightmare and a situation I have imagined ever since I was a child in London during the blitz.
The gratitude of those whose lives were saved by our brave lads must be immeasurable.
May God bless all those who are working so hard to save lives and bring comfort to those poor suffering people.
EILEEN EASTHAM (Mrs), Milton Close, Darwen.
