A LEIGH school has been mentioned in the honour roll for the second time in four years.
St Mary's RC High School, Astley, is identified as one of a number of particularly successful schools which has performed well in national tests and examinations.
Headteacher, Alan Bell, was delighted to receive his second personal letter from the chief inspector Mike Tomlinson.
He said: "To receive such recognition after each of our Ofsted inspections speaks volumes for the commitment of everyone involved in the school.
"The second round of inspections was far more rigorous and robust than the first and this make the news even more pleasing."
Hilton Lane Primary School, on Madams Wood Road, Little Hulton, was praised in the report for receiving "an outstanding inspection report."
Headteacher Stevie Marsh said: "This is excellent news and everyone at the school deserves credit and praise for their contribution to this result.
"This national recognition is a real boost for the school, and particularly for the staff, governors and parents who all work extremely hard to make the school a fantastic success."
Hilton Lane has already been given Beacon School status by the Department for Education and Employment.
