AN 89-year-old man escaped uninjured from his fume-filled flat after a cooker fire.
The man, of Waverley Court old folks' home in Radcliffe, had accidentally set fire to a packet of bacon. Fire officers said the packet had been left underneath a grill pan. When the cooker was switched on the package caught fire, setting off a smoke alarm.
A Whitefield fire crew spent half-an-hour at the scene on Saturday morning (Feb 3).
