A LARGE quantity of window frames and other building materials were destroyed when a blaze ripped through a metal container on a Radcliffe building site on Friday afternoon (Feb 2).
The fire broke out in Bowker Street while contractors were carrying out controlled burning near the 20ft-long unit.
Fire officers said the intense heat burned through the sides of the container and ignited the contents.
Two fire crews from Whitefield and Bury spent 30 minutes at the scene.
Officers said around a quarter of the frames and other materials being stored inside the container were destroyed.
