BURY are preparing to bring in another exciting young striker to ensure their winning form continues.
Not content with the arrival of pacy Liverpool reserve Jon Newby, the Shakers are giving a trial to a Danish striker who has a prolific scoring record in his home country.
The 22-year-old has scored 50 goals in less than 80 league matches and is highly rated.
Chairman Terry Robinson said the forward would be spending a week at Gigg Lane and the club would have the option of signing him.
"He has scored goals every season and is a proven striker, even though he's still young," said Robinson.
"He's come to our notice through our scouting network and he trained with us this morning. We don't want to reveal his name yet because we don't want other clubs to know. We have him for a week and we will see how he does."
If the Dane does arrive it will give Bury's season a much needed shot in the arm, especially in terms of goalscoring.
The fact that midfielder Nick Daws is top scorer with just five says much about the Shakers form in front of goal but the Dane plus the exciting Newby could turn Bury's season around.
Newby oozed class at the weekend, scoring a goal and posing a constant threat to the Peterborough defence with his pace and off the ball running.
It was his performance which sparked the first Bury win since December 23 and only the Gigg Lane club's second victory in 16 games.
Manager Andy Preece was delighted with the Liverpool forward's contribution but promised fans there would be more new faces to come.
And one name still very much in the frame is Stockport striker Ian Lawson. Bury have confirmed they have made an approach to their Lancashire neighbours and are keen on resigning the forward who made such an impression at Gigg.
He left for Edgeley Park early last year but has had a nightmare spell, starting only one match this season after suffering a bad knee injury.
Asked whether a bid for Lawson maybe forthcoming, Bury boss Preece said: "We're still looking at bringing more players in and strengthening. We need a few new faces, strikers, midfielders and defenders because we've had the same squad all the way through the season. Just because we've got Jon it doesn't mean we'll be sitting back."
