IT PUZZLES me why Blackburn Rovers do not make more of the obvious talents of Damien Duff.
Week after week, Damien shows what a truly exciting footballer he is to watch and he has the potential to be a regular match-winner. Sadly, this rarely happens.
In spite of all the skill and regular plaudits in your newspaper, the final analysis tells me that most of the goals created and scored came via other players (even crosses from the left, three in recent games). If they fail, Rovers suffer -- as against Derby County.
I am not criticising the player himself, but throwing down a challenge to Graeme Souness.
Goals scored in the weeks ahead are going to be so crucial and I feel that Damien could and should be a supplier for so many.
There is clearly an almost total lack of understanding between Damien and his team mates in forward positions as he crosses the ball. Most come to nothing.
A well-directed cross on to the head of Marcus Bent, for example, would be like food and drink to him. This never happens. Why?
So, come on, Mr Souness -- sort this out and make Damien Duff the complete player he deserves to be -- it could be vital to the promotion push.
