WILL Greenwood is taking nothing for granted in the England set-up -- despite playing a starring role in the demolition of Wales.
The Blackburn-born centre scored a hat-trick of tries to help England on their way to a 44-15 victory over fierce rivals Wales at the weekend.
But despite his man-of-the-match performance the former Stonyhurst pupil said he wasn't certain of his place in the England team.
"I wouldn't say I was established in the side now," said the son of former England coach Richard Greenwood. "I don't think anybody is.
"There are 25 or 30 players all fighting for places in that team and Clive (Woodward) will consider all of them."
Modest Greenwood played down his match-winning role in Saturday's game, where he played out of position.
He is the first English player to score a hat-trick of tries against the Welsh in more than 100 years -- and he didn't even allow himself a drink to celebrate, because he was set to be back in Zurich Premiership action with Harlequins tonight.
"It was not a position I am used to playing in regularly but it was a lot of fun playing with Cattie (Mike Catt) and Wilko (Jonny Wilkinson) in midfield.
"Obviously I'm delighted, it was a great team effort. Wales played well and they're a good side."
Greenwood played down talk of England having the championship already in the bag.
"We're not going to start jumping up and down and saying how good we are," he said. "It was just one victory.
"Until we have a championship in the bag, we can't say we are a special team."
Greenwood joked after the game that his dad would 'slaughter' him for a mis-placed pass which saw him throw the ball into touch, but he today confessed that Greenwood Senior was full of praise
"After the game my dad said 'Well done'. I have painted him as a bit of an ogre over the past few days but he is alright really."
England's next Six Nations game is against Italy at Twickenham on Saturday 17, before they face Scotland at home on March 3, Ireland away on March 24 and France at home on April 7.
"Obviously I am hoping to be in the side against Italy but if you are not in the side for the next game you just pick yourself up and work harder in training."
The 28-year-old, whose family live in Hurst Green, was desperate to get back in league action tonight against Gloucester. But he spent the weekend on the treatment table because of a shoulder injury and was ruled out this morning.
He is likely to be back for the game against Bristol on Saturday.
"My phone has not stopped ringing since Saturday but I have just kept my head down. I just want to concentrate on playing for my club and think about Italy next week."
