Clock Face Miners 10 Pilkingtons A 15
PILKS eventually ran out winners in this hard-fought local derby to complete a double over a spirited Clock Face.
The visitors opened the scoring on 20 minutes when Mark Forber went under the posts for a try which he also converted.
Clock began to take the game to Pilks and finally got the break their efforts deserved when Steve Rybczynski followed up his own grubber kick to touch down. And Rybczynski struck again right on hhalf-time when he pounced on a loose ball and ran through to score under the posts. He also added the conversion to make it 10-6.
Pilks drew level early in the second half with a try wide out by Martin Hardman. And the visitors regained the lead when a chip over the Clock defence saw Recs' winger Dave Archer winning the race to touch down.
Pilks completed the scoring when scrum-half Andy Fairhurst landed a well-taken drop goal to give them a five-point advantage which they held until the end.
The Clock Face Hotel man-of-the-match for the home side was Steve Rybczynski, with Damian Grimes, Dean Barber and Mark Chatterton also playing well.
