Haresfinch 38 Saddleworth A 2
FINCH returned to winning ways with this comfortable victory over a struggling Saddleworth side.
Loose-forward Anthony Seabrook opened the scoring for Finch with a penalty and then provided the pass for second-row Ste Thompson to grab the first try. An interception try by centre Gareth Bass increased the home side's advantage before the visitors registered their only points of the afternoon with a penalty.
Finch quickly replied though with stand-off John Jackson re-gathering his own short kick-off to send Seabrook powering in under the posts. The same player added the conversion to make it 16-2 at the break.
Jackson was again the architect when Finch opened up their second half account, his break down the left flank paving the way for winger Ste Ratcliffe to outpace the cover. And the stand-off himself was next to score, backing up a break by Karl Farrall to go over. Seabrook added both conversions.
A break by Allan Barker enabled centre Kel Gearing to score the sixth touchdown and Finch rounded off the scoring when Jackson skipped through to send half-back partner Stuart Simmons in for a well-deserved try, goaled by Seabrook.
Simmons was adjudged the Franco's Wholesale Ltd. man-of-the-match, with hooker Shaun Kilgannon taking the Fran's News Best Player award.
