THE wife and six-year-old son of a serving Lancashire police officer have both been found dead at their house in Longton.
Lucy Anne MacMartin together with son Sam were found at the family home on Orchard Lane, Longton, early on Tuesday evening (February 6).
The body of the six-year-old was found by police officers in the first floor bedroom after neighbours alerted the emergency services.
Police are not tracing anyone in connection with the deaths, although a postmortem was carried out on Wednesday morning.
Gary MacMartin is currently serving as a motorway officer with the Lancashire Constabulary.
Chief Superintendent Paul Harry said: "Obviously, this is a tragedy for Gary and our main concern must be for his welfare.
"He is currently being supported by friends, colleagues and support staff."
