VETS at a Bamber Bridge surgery are fighting to save the life of a brave little cat who was seriously injured in a road traffic accident.

Staff at Withy Grove Veterinary Clinic, in Station Road, Bamber Bridge, are operating on Nelson the cat today (February 8) following his accident earlier this week.

The frightened moggie was brought to the veterinary clinic by RSPCA staff and was rushed into the operating room for emergency treatment.

Despite all their best efforts, the skilled surgical team were unable to save the stray cat's right eye, hence they named him Nelson after the one-eyed Naval commander.

He may also lose a leg.

Although the RSPCA has offered to pay £35 toward the cost of Nelson's treatment it is the SRPCC Cat Welfare Trust in Preston who are picking up the remainder of the £300 bill.

The vet is keen to rehouse Nelson. If you can help, please contact the Withy Grove surgery on (01772) 330103.
