IT is a known fact that Lancaster City Council is in financial difficulties. As a council we need to be open and accountable to scrutiny and learn from mistakes.
It would be so much better if we could work together collectively for the future of our city and for our residents rather than score political points. Lancaster is an old city, steeped in history, we have so much to be proud of.
Therefore, what makes this city important in terms of tourism and energy is the arts and culture. Without this we will lose so much of our identity. The museum is central to this identity. Given the strong feelings shown at the public meeting on January 30, it is clear the people of Lancaster are proud and protective of what is rightly theirs. We must ensure the continuation of the museum.
