WITH reference to the letter from Terrie Metcalfe in your February 1 issue and comments about the paddling pool at Happy Mount Park.
I clearly remember the MBI's pledge to restore the pool to full use but here our memories are at odds because, if she cared to visit the park last summer, excited groups of happy children would have been seen enjoying the facility once more.
This of course was the norm before Crinkley Bottom and several years of neglect by the previous Labour administration.
If she cares to visit the park at this time she will see the final stage of the MBI promise made good with a full refurbishment of the pool and its immediate surroundings in progress.
She also laments, as I do, the demise of Bubbles. Again, years of neglect and a lack of preventative structural maintenance by the previous administration is to blame. All homeowners know every structure requires constant maintenance.
But then again, Terrie Metcalfe was a former councillor and member of the previous Labour administration. Like other members of that group she suffers from the same problem, ie. partial or in some cases total amnesia whilst claiming diminished responsibility for the financial blackhole that their maladministration created.
