As usual Cllr. Westwell chose to resort to insults rather than answer the question I posed and completely missed the point I was making.
When companies approach the Council with proposals to run a council facility as he did on behalf of Happy Mount Park Illuminations Company Limited the Council look at those proposals and decide if they should be allowed to go ahead or not. In his case as with Blobby we did, and gave him a three-year licence. This operation lasted for two years at which time the Council were advised that the Happy Mount Park Illuminations Company Limited was in liquidation. The question I asked was, was there any outstanding debts from this operation when it went into liquidation? If Councillor Westwell would like to answer that question.
He also asked the why I was interviewed by the Police, which surprised me. The answer is simple; it was because of a complaint made by Councillor Westwell and one of his Councillor friends about the content of a previous letter. After my interview the police apologised but pointed out they had to follow it through and the complaint was dropped.
The point I was making is that people in glasshouses shouldn't throw stones, and that Councils lose money for all sorts of reasons including companies going into voluntary liquidation.
County Councillor D.B.Stanley, Hestham Avenue, Morecambe.
