Lytham 1st XI 5 Durham Uni 2nd XI 2 IT just gets better! Once again LSA produced a polished and highly professional first 25 minutes which saw them three goals to the good. An excellent pick up and turn created space for Craig Nuttall to finish with great style.
Further goals from Tom Atkinson and Chris Hadley put them firmly in the driving seat. Durham came back in the last ten minutes of the first half but good organisation in the LSA defence nullified the threat.
The second half brought two quick goals for Dave Robbins the first after an audacious dummy, after which Durham stole two consolation goals but the result was never in doubt. Lytham 2nd XI 0 Didsbury 4 -- North West League Division 5 PLAYING without their main striker Richard Isherwood LSA were always going to struggle against a well organised and more skilful side.
They held out for 20 minutes but a mistake in mid-field led to a fine strike from the Didsbury left wing, followed by a second goal from a penalty corner. Too many LSA final passes went astray making it easy for the opposition defence.
Danny Horse, in goal, kept the opposition at bay many times, but after Graham Shaw had missed a great opportunity in front of goal, LSA went further behind to two well taken goal. Sam Ashworth played well in an otherwise disorganised team.
LSA 3rd XI lost 1-0 to Didsbury Northern despite playing some solid hockey while the 4ths XL match was cancelled as they could not raise a team.
The Badgers lost 6-0 against a much older West Derby but restricted thir opponents to just one goal in the second half.
