THE mother of a Blackpool toddler who died in the early hours of Monday morning has been arrested and charged with murder.
Hayley Kershaw, 24, from Keasden Avenue, South Shore, is to appear before Blackpool Magistrates today (Thursday) after being charged following the death of her two-year-old son, Scott. The child was taken to Blackpool Victoria Hospital by ambulance from his home shortly after 4.30am on January 5 but was pronounced dead on arrival.
Police arrested Miss Kershaw, who has another child and will soon be expecting a third, and her 19-year-old boyfriend shortly after the tragedy. They later obtained an extra 24 hours from Blackpool Magistrates to question the man further.
But officers charged the young mother with murder yesterday (Wednesday) and released her boyfriend without charge.
