IT'LL be miles better travelling on Blackpool buses between the town centre and Victoria Hospital with a vastly improved service in the pipeline.
A number of modifications are being made along Talbot Road, Grange Road, St Walburga's Road, Whinney Heys Road, Whinpark Avenue and North Park Drive, which should ensure a service every ten minutes and vastly improve the reliability of services.
The improvements are being made by Blackpool Borough Council in conjunction with Blackpool Transport and are likely to cost around £222,000, culled from the Local Transport Plan. They will include signal modifications, the introduction of one-way traffic along Whinpark Avenue and construction of a double mini roundabout at the junction of Grange Road and St Walburga's Road to improve traffic flow. A number of car parking issues will also be addressed.
Liz Esnouf from Blackpool Transport said: "We have concentrated on the route up to the Vic from the town and measures to make life easier for passengers include putting modern, low-floor buses on the route for easier access and making services more regular.
"Talbot Road is the most heavily used bus route in town so the improvements will have benefits right across the network."
