ATHERTON Colls go into tomorrow's away game at Manchester side Abbey Hey still looking for a first win since Chris O'Brien and his assistant Paul Kirkham took over the managerial reigns.
But the news at the club is all upbeat rather than doom and gloom.
Former Bolton Wanderers star Gary Henshaw agreed to sign for the Alder House outfit having been sidelined this season through work commitments and after two weeks of heavy training he is almost ready to step into playing action.
O'Brien has also signed highly versatile former Manchester City apprentice Steve Brennan who has been with Ramsbottom United and Kendal Town. Paul Vandenberg moved to Colls in a straight swap deal with LR which saw striker Luke Hardman become the seventh player to link up with former team boss Alan Lord at Crilly Park. In addition three key first team players who have missed recent games with a combination of problems are all set for return. Star winger Mark Jones has recovered from his ankle injury much quicker than first thought and midfielders Paul Griffin and Dean Sillett are also back in contention.
As if all that good news wasn't enough O'Brien this week signed two players from Radcliffe Boro, centre back Ian Callaghan and midfield man Craig Taylor.
After tomorrow's away Division One fixture Colls are at home next Tuesday to Stockport side Woodley Sports.
