WHEN is the bottom end of Leyland ever going to look like a town instead of a resembling a derelict building site.
I am sad to say it is a complete mess at the moment.
Now that the market has moved to Hough Lane and most of the Southern Towngate shops closed down, the area is like a ghost town. It is like a massive concrete car park.
There is a big sign up saying Tesco is going to come soon but no one seems to know when -- maybe they have pulled out and no one wants to own up to it.
They haven't even started to knock down the old Food Giant building yet.
Leyland used to be such a lovely town and I can remember the first Leyland Festival Princess competition which took place inside the old Town Hall in Towngate -- now bulldozed like the other buildings in that part of town.
There used to be a little NatWest bank that was very handy for customers and now they've all moved to Hough Lane, leaving nothing in this end of Leyland. It's about time something was done -- before Leyland wins the award for the smallest town with the biggest car park. It's a disgrace.
So wake up councillors, start shouting up about the state of Leyland and get something done instead of having meeting after meeting debating the same old matters.
After all, that is what council taxpayers voted you all in for -- and we can vote you out just as quick next time around.
B Raven, Longmeanygate, Leyland.
