BIG laughs will be par for the course this summer at Blackpool Grand Theatre as cheeky Scouse comic Jimmy Tarbuck leads the way in a packed new season.

Just days after scooping the Tourism Award 2000 Entertainment Venue Of The Year, The Grand unveils a sensational new selection of quality comedy, classic drama, cutting-edge dance and family fun.

As well as Tarby taking time off from the golf course to appear for one night only on July 29, there's Ken Dodd and his tickling stick, Father Ted's Ardal O'Hanlon, Aussie minxes Supergirly and the inimitable Hinge and Bracket to keep audiences rolling in and in the aisles.

Not forgetting that the one and only Joe Longthorne joins with Billy Pearce, Keith Harris and Orville in Startime 2001 which runs right through from July to October.

Dance fans can enjoy the return of classic favourites English National Ballet and a gala night with stars of the Bolshoi, plus modern movers Richard Alston Dance Company and Nederlands Dans Theatre 2. And the Arc Dance company make their debut in the resort this May with a stunning and stylish programme.

The smooth sounds of Frank, Sammy and Dean return by popular demand in the Rat Pack on May 16-19. One big surprise is David Dimbleby's daughter Kate taking the lead role in FEVER! The Making Of Peggy Lee, in March, recreating the the unmistakeable sound and persona of one of America's most eccentric singers.

Classical music reverberates once again through the theatre again with Viva Verdi arriving in March to celebrate the works of Italy's greatest composer and Tosca in May.

Australian neighbours meet Noel Coward as Anne Charleston (Madge) treads the boards in the witty theatrical farce Present Laughter.

The Colbys' own superbitch Stephanie Beacham stars alongside heart-throb and now playwright Simon Williams in his self-penned comedy Nobody's Perfect.

For those who prefer a darker edge to their evening out, don't miss Susan Hill's spine-chiller The Woman In Black.

And the children aren't forgotten with the return of The Hobbit in June thanks to overwhelming demand, plus Rupert The Bear and his faithful friends in a brand new story in Nutwood on February 20.

In fact, whatever your choice the Grand is sure to offer it this season. For further information, tickets prices and booking information call the box office on (01253) 290190.
