A HAYDOCK primary school has joined forces with an award-winning local brass band in a bid to encourage more pupils to take up music.
Richard Evans Primary School, in West End Road, has formed its own school band with the help of Haydock Youth Brass Band, who have agreed to temporarily donate some of their instruments and offer special coaching for two months to any youngsters interested in taking up music.
Headteacher Steve Owen told the Star: "The Haydock Youth Brass Band have a reputation for excellence and has won many awards in their time. Some of their members have even gone on to become members of the National Youth Orchestra and we felt that our own pupils would really benefit from their expert tuition and hopefully discover new talents about themselves."
