FIVE bars in St Helens town centre have been granted late-night public entertainment licences which will allow them to play music until 1am.
Following a successful application by The Dali Bar last summer when it became the first bar in the town centre to stay open until 1am, The Bear and Barrow, Raven Lodge, Westfields, Bar X and The Sin Bin have followed suit.
The council's Licensing and Environmental Protection Committee granted public entertainment licences until 1am on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays to The Bear and Barrow, Raven Lodge, Westfields and Bar X, while The Sin Bin was granted a licence to operate until 1am, Monday to Saturday.
The licences were granted on the condition that no customers would be allowed into the premises after 11pm. All of the above are, however, subject to St Helens Magistrates Court granting Special Hours Certificates.
