A CARTOONIST has been convinced that Leigh folk enjoy a good rant -- after people contacted him with dozens of their favourite moans and whinges.

Drawing duo Grennan and Sperandio appealed to Leigh people to tell them what their pet hates were so they can draw cartoons of them for a new website. More than 40 local residents unleashed their irrational and ridiculous pet peeves on the two artists.

The world famous cartoonists are currently enjoying a residency at the Turnpike Gallery and Simon Grennan revealed what rants stuck in his mind the most: "There were rants about people who were so perfect that you couldn't help but hate them, there was also one about bed pans which I won't go into detail about. All the responses that we got were fairly good. Another rant that sticks out was about people who write letters into newspapers and don't sign their names. I got the idea that people in Leigh like a good rant. They were quite eloquent."

Grennan and Sperandio plan to create 10 cartoons for the website called don't-get-me-started.com, which should be up and running from early May.

It will be the town's first cartoon website.

Simon said: "We've had about 40 responses -- which is quite good. They were from a whole range of people at different points in life which is the most important thing."
