ON behalf of the residents of Roe Lee in Blackburn, the ward's three Conservative councillors have worked long and hard to campaign for funding for speed restrictions on Openshaw Drive and Pleck Farm Avenue, which have been used as a rat-run for too long.
Though no mention of our involvement was made by executive member for regeneration Councillor Ashley Whalley in your report (LET, February 5), I am sure that most of the resident groups and businesses recognise our work.
The consultation on the scheme as far as we are conerned is already operational and meetings with residents, officers and the police have been going on for a while.
Coun Whalley does not consult -- he thinks about it, knows what he wants and goes with it, as your article proved, because he forgets to speak to the ward councillors.
COUN MAUREEN McGARVEY, Roe Lee Ward, Blackburn with Darwen Council.
