POLICE broke into a house in Whitefield on Tuesday night (Feb 6) to discover a pensioner unconscious after an apparent suicide attempt.
Officers had responded to a telephone call saying the 67-year-old man, of Old Hall Lane, had slit his wrists and throat and had lost several pints of blood.
The pensioner was taken to North Manchester General Hospital where he was treated for superficial injuries.
