COUNTY Councillor Tim Ormrod is pressing the North West Development Agency for cash to regenerate the borough and create economic development projects in the area.
The councillor, who represents Colne, said: "The Pendle Partnership has been very successful in winning extra Government and European monies over the years but our area still has significant social problems that need to be tackled.
"Unemployment, a low skill base and low wages are particular issues that need addressing in Pendle and I am confident that we can present a good case to the Development Agency for the additional help that we need."
Coun Ormrod said he was expecting the Agency to make an announcement before the end of the month.
