POLICE in Rossendale have helped secure £20,000 to help victims of domestic violence.
The cash has been given by the Action for Haslingden Partnership and several anonymous donors.
It will be used by the police and other partnership agencies -- including the local Domestic Violence Forum -- to fund a range of initiatives aimed at reducing the risk of repeat domestic violence attacks.
Insp Mick Marren said: "Domestic violence is a serious crime and where possible we will be taking positive action and arresting offenders.
"However, equally important is the sympathetic treatment of victims.
"This is why we are working with partner organisations like the Domestic Violence Forum to improve the services on offer to them."
He said police planned to give victims information packs with advice and details of support organisations. They are also set to equip them with attack alarms.
In addition some of the money will be used to fund a conference on domestic violence.
