SHOTS were fired and staff from a Whitefield restaurant were pelted with bricks and bottles during an incident on Sunday night (Feb 11).
Four men are now being sought in connection with the violence which began in The Khan Saab Indian restaurant in Bury New Road.
According to police a dispute broke out in the restaurant between the four male customers and one produced a handgun which was fired into the floor when a waiter grappled with the armed thug.
All the men fled and staff chased the gang along Bury New Road towards its junction with Victoria Lane.
Detective Sergeant Duncan Heywood of Bury's Operational Police Unit said: "At Victoria Lane the men stopped and began hurling bricks and bottles at the pursuing staff. It is believed the handgun was fired again although no-one was injured.
"One of the men then approached the owner of the restaurant and attempted to calm things down. He kept mentioning that his brother had been assaulted. The group then walked off."
Detectives from Whitefield are now keen to speak to anyone who witnessed the incident at the restaurant and at Victoria Lane.
Only two of four men have been described. One is said to be white, aged 23 years, with a bald head and goatee beard. The other is a 20-year-old white male who was wearing a deer stalker.
