I KNOW of one nightingale who won't be singing after the FA Cup replay at Pride Park, that is S Nightingale of Whalley New Road, Blackburn (Letters, February 6).
"Roll on tomorrow's replay when I shall enjoy ramming a slice of humble pie down the throats of all those whingeing, excuse-making Rovers fans," he said. Result of replay: Derby 2, Rovers 5. Who's eating humble pie now?
This time Rovers had five shots of note, all ending in the back of the Derby net.
S Nightingale also said of the first match: "As it transpired they (Rovers) failed miserably, which makes you question their ability to sustain Premiership status should they eventually be promoted." Five goals against a Premiership side away from home suggests they can.
Finally, I wonder if Derby County can sustain their Premiership status much longer, it would seem to me they will have to fight hard to avoid relegation.
By the way S Nightingale, Jim Smith, Derby's manager, is a great admirer of Rovers and admits they have some quality players. Enough said.
MR S ASHTON, Pilmuir Road, Blackburn.
