Haresfinch 6 Hindley 8
FINCH were left to rue a couple of missed scoring chances as Hindley went on to record a hard-fought success in this gripping encounter.
Winger Ste Ratcliffe and loose-forward Anthony Seabrook both went close for the home side and there were flashes from prop Dave Greenall and second-row Ste Richards, but it was the visitors who took an 8-0 half-time lead with a penalty and a converted try.
In the second half Finch had the better of the play and they finally opened their account when veteran substitute Billy Platt and stand-off John Jackson paved the way for Seabrook to go in for a try which he also converted, but it was too little, too late.
The Franco's Wholesale Ltd. man-of-the-match for Finch was second-row Ste Thompson, the Fran's News player-of-the-match went to Karl Farrall and there was another solid display by full-back Dave Penny.
