POLICE are appealing for anyone who saw a vicious wounding take place in the grounds of Asda car park, Kirkland Street, St Helens, on Sunday, January 28.
The incident happened at about 11.20pm when a man who had been out for the evening was approached by four males and two females asking him if he had a spare cigarette.
When the man said no, they carried on walking. A few seconds later three of the males returned and punched the man forcing him to the ground.
When he got to his feet his leather jacket was ripped and he found a two inch wound in his back possibly caused by a sharp instrument.
