FROM your description (LET, February 7), the new art sculptures designed for Church Street, Blackburn will be a big improvement on the town's other art -- metal 'trees,' the 'metal beehive' and the hidden-from-view 'nude man.'
But to what purpose, when the council are so determined to prevent people getting into the town?
Is there any truth in the rumour that if the blockade is breached by the ingenuity of drivers and they still find their way into the town centre, the plan will be to divert the canal round the outskirts to form a deep moat? Armed patrol boats could be a final deterrent.
