RAVENHEAD Foyer is to receive £30,000 of funding from the government towards training for disadvantaged people with the help of rugby league players.
The money is part of the Adult and Community Learning Fund which is being used for activities that matter most to local people - from healthcare and managing money to writing and photography.
And in many projects adult basic skills are at the heart of all learning.
Education and Employment Minister, Tessa Blackstone, who announced the funding, said: "These project will provide more learning opportunities for people within their own communities. The Adult and Community Learning Fund provides money for innovative, accessible local activities that encourage people to develop their skills and make a contribution to their community. Learning this way can make a real difference in the lives of many people."
