A THIEF vaulted over a shop counter to steal cash while his machete wielding accomplice stood guard at the door during a robbery on Tuesday (Feb 13) night.
The men stormed into the Late Shop in Ainsworth Road, Bury at 9.10pm as a 49-year-old female store assistant was on her own.
An unknown amount of money was grabbed from the till as the man holding the machete threatened the woman with violence if she attempted to stop the robbery. Both men fled on foot.
Police in Bury are now appealing for any witnesses to the robbery to contact them on 856 8150.
They have released a description of one of the robbers who is said to be a white male with a gaunt, pale face. He was wearing a pale yellow jacket and fingerless gloves. Anyone with information should quote reference number GMP48954P/01.
