AN unwanted treadmill will play a key role in the rehabilitation of brain injury patients in Bury.
The equipment has been donated to the town's Highbank Rehabilitation Centre by the Bury Lions Club.
Earlier, the organisation had been given the treadmill by its original owner, a woman who lives in Brandlesholme Road.
After buying it, she realised the treadmill wasn't suitable for her needs.
She contacted Bury Lions and asked if they knew of any organisation that could use it.
Bury Lions suggested Highbank, which provides rehabilitation services for adults and children who have suffered a traumatic-acquired brain injury.
Lawrence Haslam, a member of Bury Lions, is a volunteer at Highbank Rehabilitation Centre and he arranged for the treadmill to be collected and installed at Lynne House children's unit.
Chartered physiotherapist Zelda Frizner is delighted to receive the equipment.
She said: "This treadmill will be used as part of the rehabilitation process and will be of great benefit to many children."
She paid tribute to the kindness of the woman who had donated the equipment.
If anyone is interested in the services provided at Highbank Rehabilitation Centre, and would like to visit, please ring Yael Eardley-Dutton, marketing manager, on 01706 829 540.
