Lytham Ladies 1st XI 4 Preston 0 : Lancashire Womens Central League (Premier Division) THIS was another very good performance by Lytham against a side who had already beaten them before at Preston.
And although they missed the opportunity before half time to increase their goal tally it was left to Lian Atkinson to put them ahead sweeping a lose ball home in the circle.
In the second half Lytham became more clinical and capitalised on the chances created. Of special note was their third goal which began deep in the Lytham half. A series of swift passes led to Heidi Whitehead slotting home from close range.
The work rate of the Lytham mid-field was impressive. Kelly Ferguson and Gill Harrison scored the other two Lytham goals.
Ladies 2nd XI beat Lancaster 3rds 3-1 in a superb match played in torrential rain and knife cutting wind at Lancaster University's ground.
They took an early lead when Kim Sharples scored after a good passing movement with Jenny Leng. Lancaster equalised soon after. In the second half going with the wing Lytham fought well right from Lorna Leach at the back, through Jane Kelly and Natalie Ingham to Jenny Leng who scored their second goal.
Another break and passing by Kim, Jenny and Louise Herring saw Louise strike the ball home for the third and final goal that put the result beyond doubt.
Special mention must go to the sound an unobtrusive play of Claire Roberts at left back and Janet Shaw at right mid-field.
