LEIGH RU's dismal form continued as they went down 8-6 at home to Northwich. True to form, Leigh conceded an early penalty and although the forwards set up several chances, the failed to finish.
Parker was an early substitute for Wright and Leigh were out of luck again when a speculative kick ahead by the Northwich stand-off brought a try that even the most ardent visiting supporter questioned.
Further Leigh pressure brought its reward with a Billinge penalty to reduce the arrears to 8-3 but several more penalty chances were missed, leaving Leigh's promising forward play unrewarded at half time.
Bullough substituted for Haste at the break and Leigh continued to dominate the forward exchanges.
Higson converted a penalty to narrow the margin to 8-6 but several other opportunities to clinch the game were missed, leaving Leigh's pack wondering how they could totally dominate the opposition and still finish on the losing side.
