THE South East Lancashire Cross-Country League presentation night saw Leigh Harriers' outstanding young athletes get their awards.
The Leigh team collected three individual titles, three team awards and a number of second and third placings.
Anne Powell took the senior lady individual award for a second time in three years to collect the Challenge Shield.
James Gendall was the Under 15s boys champion, winning the Joe Salt Cup. He won races at Rochdale, Middleton and Leigh and a second place at Oldham.
The Under 15s champion was Adele Swanton who was first home in all four races. She was awarded the Proudley Shield. Other individual awards went to Gemma Farley, sixth in the Under 13s girls; Mike Goddard, third in the Under 13s boys; Lizzy Heaton, second in the girls Under 15s and Thomas Boardman second in the Under 15s boys.
In the older age groups Toni Bowers was second in the Under 17s girls; Richard Harrison second in the Under 20s men and Chris Hallinan, third in the O60s men.
In the team races the Harriers won three awards. The Under 13s girls won three of the four races. Lead by Gemma Farley, the team medal winners were Emma Morris, Louise Boardman, Kelly Sawle, Zoe Sawle and Claire Walker. They were winners of the Brenda Robinson Trophy.
The girls Under 15s team won all four races. Adele Swanton, the overall champion, lead the team of Lizzy Heaton, Amanda Fearnley, Laura Morris and Amy Woods won the Margaret Galvin Trophy. As well as the South East Lancs title, they have won the Greater Manchester Cross-Country team award, the Greater Manchester Road Relay Championship and finished third in the NW Women's League.
The Under 15s boys received the Charlie Madeley Cup after winning all four races. The successful combination was James Gendall, Thomas Boardman and Alex Urmston.
