A WORKMAN was airlifted to hospital after plunging 20ft from a first floor window while putting in double glazing at an old people's home.
Steven Sumner, 36, lost his balance and fell from the second storey onto grass. He suffered head and spinal injuries.
Mr Sumner, of Highgate Lane, Little Hulton, was taken by air ambulance to the Royal Preston Hospital after the accident at Clayton-le-Moors, in East Lancashire, on Wednesday.
He was part of a team fixing double glazing windows at the home, employed by Patrick Contract Joinery Ltd based in Leigh.
Ambulance crews arrived at the scene and he was taken to the Royal Preston Hospital by air ambulance.
Air ambulance paramedic Phil Edmondson said: "It was a very nasty fall but hopefully he will be okay." The Health and Safety Executive has launched an inquiry.
