DISABLED cyclist David Moore has packed his bags and is counting the hours to his cycle ride along the River Nile for charity.
David, 47, of Brunswick Street, Nelson, will fly out to Egypt tomorrow to tackle the 500km route in aid of Mencap.
He had to raise £1,950 to take part in the cycle ride which will set off from Luxor and take in a circular route which will include the pyramids and Aswan Dam on the week-long journey.
But David, who has part of his foot missing from a motorbike accident when he was younger and has one leg one-and-half inches shorter than the other, went one better and raised £4,010 with another £200 still to collect.
He held promotional stands at his local supermarkets and at the Admiral Centre in Nelson and collected £886 at Colne Asda alone.
