TIDY, at Good Night Club, Nelson
TWO years ago this sort of performance was winning the Pendle group fans left, right and centre.
But now we've seen it so many times the band should start making tough decisions.
Their sound, a blend of Santana and the Kinks, was created by the band just having a laugh.
Under the spoof name of The Rubbish they quickly became one of the best unsigned bands.
But celebrity friends and support slots with Status Quo haven't been enough to secure a record deal.
Now it's the choice of being a good pub rock outfit or moving on. The old songs don't sit comfortably with the new. The jazz-influenced Meet Me In The Rain simply doesn't work alongside the newer Madchester-influenced stuff.
The new material is good and Philistine, with its banging intro, is a brilliant live winner. On March 9 they play Colne Municipal Hall, then return to the studio. In the words of I feel Alive, "time ain't on their side."
