WORK is almost completed on transforming a former land-fill site into a scenic walkway.
Blackburn with Darwen Council has been working on the area which was the Bull Hill land-fill site and creating walkways, seating areas and a number of other improvements.
There will be a woodland footpath, seating areas and trees have been cleared to enhance the views over Darwen and the surrounding area.
Work started on the project in January as part of Blackburn with Darwen Council's Environmental Enhancement Programme and it is hoped it will be open to the public later this year.
Alan Peak, Director of Technical Services, at Blackburn with Darwen Council said: "The site was landscaped and extensively planted with trees as part of the treatment when the site was closed to tipping in the early eighties.
"The site passed from Lancashire County Council during reorganisation in 1998 to Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council, who have maintained the site ever since. Work involves the creation of woodland footpaths, seating areas, signs, repairs to the stone wall fronting the site and the clearance of some trees to open up the views into and out of the site."
No price has been put on the project.
