BURY boss Andy Preece hit back at the boo boys who weren't happy when he came on as a second half substitute against Oxford..
Preece soon proved the small minority of doubters wrong by playing a major part in two goals and helping Bury to secure victory.
"A few in the stand up above weren't too happy when I was coming on but they are always the loudest those ones," revealed the manager.
"I had a hand in both goals and when you put someone on as sub you are looking to see if they can change the game. I felt that I contributed so I proved the point that I was right to bring myself on.
"Everything I do is for the benefit of the team and the benefit of Bury Football Club not for the benefit of Andy Preece.
"If I did it for the benefit of Andy Preece I'd be playing every week.
"At the end of the day we're in a position where if somebody takes the club over tomorrow I could be out of a job. So I could be thinking in the back of my mind I'd better play every week because I might be looking for a playing contract somewhere else.
"I do everything for the benefit of the club. If I thought Paul Barnes or Lutel James would do a better job I would have put them on, not me."
Loan boy Colin Cramb, signed from Crewe on Thursday, was the man Preece replaced and the manager is looking for his new signing to produce more in the next few games.
"I think Colin will be a little disappointed because he knows he can do a lot better than that," reckoned Preece.
"We saw little glimpses of what he's capable of but it's difficult out there and he will have to get used to playing on that surface. He has good vision, he'll hold the ball up for us and if we can get the ball to him in the right areas, he will create opportunities for himself.
"We've still got the best to see of Colin and I'm sure he is going to be a valuable member of our squad."
