Bury 3 Oxford 1
DESPITE the much overused Gigg Lane pitch having taken on its now customary end of season resemblance to Ainsdale beech Bury could well have notched double figures against the relegation doomed Oxford.
Jon Newby hit a couple, and should have had four, and man of the match, Chris Armstrong notched his first League goal, and could have had a hat-trick!
Local youngster and captain for the day, Martyn Forrest made a welcome return to first team action and played a major part in each goal, showing a good deal more confidence than hitherto.
New guy Colin Cramb looked a useful acquisition but lacks match fitness, and will clearly have much more to offer, and his partnership with young Newby looks promising indeed.
The dejected U's had Chris Hackett sent off in the first half for pole-axing Chris Armstrong with an elbow, and though Joey Beauchamp pulled back a last gasp goal, there was never any doubt where the points were going.
