ACCRINGTON STANLEY 4 HYDE UTD 1

TWO goals from super sub Mark Brennan gave Stanley a well-earned three points against Hyde United to make it three consecutive home games without defeat.

In a goalless first half visitors Hyde created the first scoring chance of the game on eight minutes when Peter Band struck a 14 yard shot that goalkeeper Jamie Speare dived to his left to save. Three minutes later a good cross by Reds winger Russell Payne was met by Simon Carden but his goalbound header was brilliantly saved by Hyde goalkeeper Kurt Edgington.

Accrington took the lead two minutes after the break, Brett Baxter's corner was met by skipper Jay Flannery and his 15 yard header crept over the goalline with two Hyde defenders looking on.

Stanley almost added a second goal on 63 minutes, Payne's pass found Paul Mullin whose fiercely struck shot was well saved by Edgington. Hyde responded with an equaliser a minute later, Jody Banim spotting Speare off his goal line, he lobbed the ball over the keeper from 35 yards out.

Banim almost scored again on 70 minutes latching onto a ball by Phil Trainer, his acrobatic volley was superbly saved by Speare.

Accrington regained the lead on 74 minutes, Mark Ceraolo appeared to be fouled but Gary Williams laid the ball back to Ceraolo who hit a fiercely struck shot into th net from 15 yards. The Reds made a double substitution on 79 minutes with Brennan and Paul Burns replacing Baxter and Williams.

Five minutes later Mullin created an opening for Brennan who neatly chipped the ball over Edgington and into the net off the far post. Brennan then sealed victory with the fourth goal in the last minute getting on to the end of a Steve Carragher cross to fire in his second goal.
