I WRITE in response to the letter headed 'Patch didn't deserve to die' (Dear Star, February 8).

In his letter, Patch's owner was disgusted how the driver of the vehicle that hit his dog and killed it didn't even bother to stop.

But he admitted in his letter the dog sometimes chased cars. If he knew this why did he let Patch out, obviously off the lead?

The owner of the vehicle probably thought, if the dog's owner can't be bothered to keep it off the street, why should I be bothered to stop.

As far as I am concerned Patch's master is just another irresponsible dog owner and Patch would still be alive today but for his master's folly.

RESPONSIBLE Dog Owner (name and address supplied).
